The aims of PE are:
To enable children to develop and explore physical skills with increasing control and co-ordination;
- To encourage children to work and play with others in a range of group situations;
 - To develop the way children perform skills and apply rules and conventions for different activities;
 - To increase children’s ability to use what they have learnt to improve the quality and control of their performance;
 - To teach children to recognise and describe how their bodies feel during exercise;
 - To develop the children’s enjoyment of physical activity through creativity and imagination;
 - To develop an understanding in children of how to succeed in a range of physical activities and how to evaluate their own success.Out of hours learning takes place at before school, break times, lunchtimes and after school. A variety of opportunities are provided to suit children of different ages, gender and cultures, providing a fair and equal opportunity for all of the children. Children are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of teams for enjoyment and competition. As a school, we also provide the opportunity for children to participate in a variety of non-sporting clubs.
 
Aims and Objectives of out of hours learning
We aim to encourage all pupils to have a lifelong commitment to physical activity through:
- Out of hours learning
 - Providing an environment that is supportive of physical activity.
 
- Providing all pupils with positive, active experiences which are fun, enjoyable and challenging.
 - Enabling all pupils to develop their confidence and competence in a range of activities.
 - Helping to stimulate further participation in physical activity beyond school.
 - Enlisting the support of ‘Adults other than Teachers’ (AOTT’s) in supporting activities.
 - Cross-curricular links and providing opportunities to enable physical activity to have a high profile.
 - Providing facilities, equipment and clubs for the children/staff to use after school.
 - Providing an organised and active playground with structured activities supported by both adults and peers, at lunch and break times.
 - Liaison with relevant professionals.
 - Monitoring of activity inside and outside of school both within the curriculum and extra-curricular.
 - Providing parents with helpful information about the role they play in helping to provide physical activity for their child and further physical activities outside of school.
